Boutique Accommodation

Get to Know Us

BEARS WENT OVER THE MOUNTAIN is a Boutique Accommodation in the heart of Geeveston.

We offer private rooms (Queen-Beds & Family-Rooms) with en-suites.

This historic stone property is conveniently located on Geeveston’s main street and is the perfect base to explore scenic southern Tasmania and the Huon Trail.

Our central location in the Tasmanian South is an ideal location to stay with access to:

Geeveston Platypus Walk,

Geeveston Visitor Centre (Forest & Heritage Centre),

the Tahune Airwalk,

Hartz Mountain

Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs, and

Cockle Creek!

Walking distance from town facilities makes us easy for hiking and cyclists on the Tasman Trail!

There’s a reason The Bears is in a prime position in Geeveston; this historic building was the town’s first (and for a long time only) bank. Built-in the early 20th century under the ownership of the Commercial Bank of Australia, the property continued its life as a bank right up until 10 September 1993. It was converted to a bed-and-breakfast in 2003, and current owners took possession of the property in late 2016, undertaking renovations and a ‘New Look’ of the guest rooms and Tapas & Wine Bar to improve amenities, customer comfort, service and facilities.

(Please be aware that our Kitchen is currently closed)
